Here are some more advanced remix strategies to improve your Ocean Eyes remix.

Try to use as many of these as you can.

1. Automation

  • Automatically change volume and pan.

  • Create fade ins and outs.

Click this button:

Choose volume or pan:

Click to add points to the line. This line will change the volume or pan automatically:

Click on that button again to turn the Display Off. This doesn't cancel the automation: it just hides it.

2. Effects

Reverb

Pick a channel and click here to add an effect:

Press the + button and choose Reverb from the list.

Reverb is the reflections of sound from walls and surfaces in a room. It makes it sound like the track is being played in a real space.

Reverb looks like this:

Phaser

Another good effect is the Phaser. Try turning up the Rate and Depth controls.

Degrader (bitcrusher)

The Degrader effect is a bitcrusher distortion. It makes the track sound lo-fi and old-fashioned. Try changing the Rate control and lowering the Mix control, otherwise it can be a bit overpowering!

3. Adding effects to certain sections

What if you only want effects on some sections?

E.g. a phaser vocal, but then later the vocal not phased?

Adding audio channels

Click on the Add channel button. Then you can have one track that has an effect, and the other that doesn't:

Automating effects

You can also use the Automation tools that we used above to control effects.

Load an effect on a track, then click the Automation button:

In the list, you should now see the options for every effect you have loaded on that track. For example, I can change the Mix control of the Degrader effect.

This way, you can have automatic control over effects. You just have to find the right option in the list.
